OCAA is run by people who have spent their working lives in organics — growing it, milling it, baking it, certifying it, and writing the standards. We are not a marketing body. We are consumers, and we are accountable to our members.
Simon Jones — Chair
Simon brings a lifetime in organics to the role. He grew up in England tending a large organic vegetable garden and running an organic tomato business with his grandfather. He went on to spend years as an organic baker and miller in Sydney, and more recently has run family businesses in organic vegetable boxes and organic ice blocks.
He served as OCAA’s Secretary before being nominated by the committee as Chair, succeeding founder Tim Marshall.
“I look forward to OCAA making a positive impact on the industry and educating our growing membership on the issues, opportunities and intricacies of our return to a planet-positive agricultural system.”
Dr Tim Marshall — Founder
Tim founded OCAA in 2019 and served as its first Chair. He is one of Australia’s foremost authorities on organic agriculture — a pioneer of the industry, a long-serving member of the National Standards Committee, and a widely published author and trainer in organic growing, biological farming, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity and land management.
His books include:
- Dung Down Under: Dung Beetles for Australia
- The New Organic Gardener
- Bug: the ultimate gardener’s guide to organic pest control
- Weed: the ultimate gardener’s guide to organic weed control
- Compost: the ultimate organic guide to recycling your garden
